Saint Joseph’s 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule was released today after the Atlantic 10 conference schedule was finalized. The Hawks currently have twelve televised games on their schedule but could add more before the season starts.
With sixteen regular season home games at Hagan Arena, the Hawks began their season against City 6 rival Drexel at home on November 13th. This is sure to be a great matchup as both teams will be looking to rebound after disappointing seasons and start off the new campaign with a win.
Phil Martelli and his team will participate in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off, which will take place at Hagan Arena when they host Niagara on November 15th and Buffalo on November 18th. Then, they will travel to Uncasville, Conn. to play against powerhouse Florida at the Mohegan Sun Arena on November 21, which will be televised on ESPN3.
The next day, the Hawks will either play against Old Dominion or Purdue and this game will also be televised, either on ESPN2 or ESPN3.
The Hawks will not catch a break after the Hall of Fame Tip-Off, as they play host to Jay Wright and his Villanova Wildcats on December 1st with a national audience tuning in for this game on CBSSN.
Later, history will be made on December 4th, when St. Joseph’s travels to New York City, NY to play against Columbia, as the game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Four days later, the Hawks will welcome Princeton to Hagan Arena.
Nines days after, Coach Martelli will take his bunch to the Liacouras Center, where they will face off against Fran Dunphy and his Temple Owls.
The Hawks will then take on Virginia Tech in the A-10/ACC Doubleheader. This outing will be played at the Barclays Center in New York City on December 22nd.
Saint Joseph’s will kick off their A-10 conference play in Richmond, VA against Richmond on January 2nd. The game will be televised on NBCSN.
The Hawks will also make the short trip to the Palestra on January 20th to play Penn. This game is part of a Big 5 doubleheader to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Philadelphia league.
La Salle will be the last Big 5 team that Saint Joseph’s will have to compete against during the regular season. The two teams will meet on January 23rd at Tom Gola Arena and then at Hagan Arena on February 13th.
The Hawks will close out their regular season schedule against Duquesne at home on March 5th.
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship will take place from March 9th-13th at the Barclays Center. The tournament will be televised by CBS Sports, NBCSN and ASN, with the final being shown on CBS.
After a disappointing 2014-15 season the Hawks will look to take advantage of their competitive 2015-16 schedule and try to make a run in the A-10 tournament, with aspirations of playing in March Madness.
